a better solution for unwanted hair…
The tedious, time consuming, and sometimes painful chore of hair removal is obviously only bothersome to those who have to do it! Unfortunately, some individuals were blessed with more than their fair share of hair….usually in inappropriate places such as, ears, backs, bikini lines and on the face. These people know all too well the disadvantages of the conventional methods of removal, nicks and cuts from shaving, ingrown hairs from waxing and the pain from tweezing and electrolysis.

Before and After the Laser Hair Removal

With the recent improvements in laser technology, physicians are now able to offer an alternative to these methods that may provide people freedom from the hassle of daily or even weekly hair removal.

understanding hair removal…
The LightSheer hair removal system is one of the most effective lasers at achieving permanent hair reduction. The goal of treatment is hair reduction for extended periods of time, which may be months to years depending on the area treated. The ideal candidate is a fair complected, dark haired individual however, this laser, unlike others, can safely be used to treat darker skin types.

The laser works by generating intense light, which targets the melanin (pigment), within the hair itself. The hair acts as a conductor carrying the laser energy to the hair follicle. This energy damages or destroys the hair follicle thus, impeding hair growth.

Each hair grows in an independent growth cycle. There are three different phases within each cycle. The active or growing phase is called anagen. There is also a transition phase (catagen) and a resting phase (telogen). Because only the hairs in the anagen phase respond to the laser hair removal, several treatments are necessary to achieve a satisfactory result. After multiple treatments, approximately 80% of the treated individuals will have long term hair reduction.

what to expect…
The LightSheer hair removal process is a non-invasive laser procedure performed quickly and easily in the office. Depending upon the size of the area to be treated, the laser session may be a few minutes to an hour or more. The actual treatment is easily tolerated, causing only slight tingling sensations. But because some body areas are more sensitive than others, topical anesthesia may be used to make the treatment comfortable.

Most individuals are able to return to normal activity without disruption, as the treatment causes only a minimal amount of redness and swelling. Both of which disappear within a short time frame.
