Tired of being asked if you are sunburned when you're not? Does the redness of your face make you look angry or flushed? Advances in laser surgery can change all of that. The versapulse or pulsed dye laser can safely and effectively treat disorders of the blood vessels, which cause redness to the skin. These lasers can eliminate such conditions as telangiectasias, hemangiomas, and port wine stain birthmarks.

Before and After Laser Treatment
Most redness to the skin is cause by either an increased number of blood vessels or blood vessels that are enlarged or dilated. The lasers create yellow-light energy, which is absorbed by the red color of the blood vessels and is converted to heat, sealing off the tiny vessels in the most superficial part of the skin. Like other lasers, the versapulse and pulsed dye lasers can be used with very minimal risk of complications. This makes it an ideal treatment for both children and adults.

Before and After treatment of Port-wine Stain
This procedure is very easily and quickly performed, usually taking only 15-30 minutes. The patient is able to immediately go back to their regular routine with little downtime. The laser is virtually painless, only causing mild stinging or burning sensations while the laser beam is on. Immediately after surgery, the treated area may appear deeper in color, and fades over the first few hours. Several treatments of the same area may be required for maximum fading. These treatments are generally spaced at four to six week intervals.
These lasers allow surgeons to offer a simple, safe and affordable treatment option with excellent results to individuals who are struggling with the effects of vascular disorders. Until this laser, there was not an ideal treatment for these conditions. However, today people do not have to hide. Instead, they can easily 'get the red out' and hold their heads high.
